Common Questions Answered
WAXING
HOW LONG DO MY HAIRS HAVE TO BE BEFORE WAXING? Around 2 - 3cm in length is best.
HOW LONG DO I LEAVE MY HAIRS TO GROW BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS? Depending on speed of hair growth it averages between 4 - 6 weeks. For first time waxing from shaving around 2 - 3 weeks is best or to optimum length.
HOW DO I PREVENT INGROWING HAIRS? Exfoliating/ scrubbing the skin 2 - 3 times per week and moisturise daily. An area more prone to this is the bikini line so exfoliating more often in this area can be beneficial.
I'M A MALE CLIENT AND WANT MY BACK WAXING. I GOT SPOTS FROM PREVIOUS WAXING TREATMENT. IS THIS NORMAL AND HOW CAN I PREVENT IT HAPPENING AGAIN? This is a common occurrence in back waxing. This is due to the presence of sebaceous glands beneath the hair follicles and can be stimulated by the waxing process. Having more regular waxing (every 6 weeks) rather than just for special occasions such as holidays will make the skin and follicles more used to waxing and in time will adjust and have less a reaction. Cleansing and moisturising daily with a T-Tree product will also be of benefit, by clearing any bacteria and giving the skin an equilibrium in oil production.
IF I HAVE MY LIP/CHIN WAXED WILL THE HAIR GROW BACK THICKER AND DARKER? This is unlikely, it will more likely soften and thin the hairs more than tweezing.
TANNING
WHAT IS A SUNLESS TANNER? There is an active ingredient in the tan called Dihydroxyacetone or DHA for short. This causes a chemical reaction with the amino acids on the outermost layer of the skin. This reaction causes the colour of the skin to change producing a beautiful, natural tan.
HOW LONG DOES THE TAN TAKE TO DEVELOP? The DHA starts to react with the skin within 2 hours of tan application and continues to do so for a total of 12 hours.
HOW LONG DOES THE TAN LAST? Depending on your skin type, and how you maintain the skin, an application can last from 4 days to 2 weeks.
IS IT SAFE? Yes. Not only do you avoid the risks of skin cancer and premature aging of UV tanning, all our sprays have passed stringent tests or are FDA approved and perfectly safe to use.
MANICURES/ PEDICURES
HOW DO I PREVENT MY CUTICLES FROM THICKENING? Regular manicures will help lift and push back the cuticles from the nail bed. Homecare recommended is to use a cuticle cream every evening. After having a bath/ shower using a soft towel, gently push them back yourself.
HOW DO I PREVENT MY NAIL VARNISH FROM CHIPPING? Before painting the nails preparation of the nails is very important, making sure no oils are on the nail plate. Then using a good base coat paint both the top and underside of the nails including the tips. Do the same with 2 coats of colour and then a good top coat. The top coat is important and after a couple of days apply another layer of top coat. This will give extra protection and brighten up your colour.
I HAVE BROWN SPOTS ON MY HANDS CAN I GET RID OF THEM? These are called age spots and are generally caused by exposure to the sun or hormonal. Using a sun factor on them daily will help prevent them from worsening and can possibly fade. Unfortunately they will never completely go.
MY NAILS KEEP SPLITTING HOW CAN I HELP THIS? If the nails are dry or under stress this will not help. Moisturise the hands and nails daily also protecting them whilst doing house chores etc with gloves. Be careful when filing your nails, making sure you use a fine grain nail file and stroke in one direction causing least friction and heat therefore being less damaging to the nail.
HOW DO I TREAT/ PREVENT SORE CRACKED HEELS? Regular pedicures every 4- 6 weeks will mostly improve the condition of the feet, by pumicing and scrubbing away most stubborn hard skin. Homecare after is just as important. We recommend using our lovely citrus intense heel repair cream which has a light texture so not uncomfortable to apply before bed which is the best time to apply. Use every evening and see a remarked improvement in just a week.
